Your first glimpse of the Manoir will set the scene for your holiday. This Portuguese blue painted villa, framed with vines and hibiscus, sits majestically in a prominent position on a 1000 acre private Estate, in this unspoiled area of the Eastern Algarve. The house has been lovingly restored - retaining its original shutters, oak doors and terracotta floors, whilst offering the guests good wifi, smart T.V’S and all “mod cons”. Entering into the hall that runs between the imposing front door through to the gardens, you will step into the enormous farmhouse kitchen with it’s original inglenook fireplace. The large wooden refectory table seats up to 10 people comfortably. The range cooker (with 6 hobs), full size American fridge and tons of herbs, spices and oils, makes cooking a joy. A contemporary Perspex screen across the door, looking across the gardens, floods the room with light (whilst keeping out any pesky flies). The dining room with a huge antique table has comfortable seating for all of you. The table will be laid ready for your arrival.
The comfortable living room with it's squashy bright blue sofa and two Spanish armchairs is just through the arch. This is a family home which welcomes you into its embrace. The paintings, furnishings and fabrics have been chosen with care – great art and hangings adorn the walls – some quirky and modern and some more traditional but all looking completely in place. The huge budda above the drinks cabinet in the corner watches over you. The original fireplace burns wood (help yourself) for chilly evenings out of season. The Manoir is perfect for “all ages” holidays. There are 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms downstairs with a further two bedrooms and two bathrooms upstairs, plus an additional bedroom, snug and bathroom on the mezzanine. The bedrooms are all furnished with antique Portuguese furniture – the crisp white bedding compliments the dark wood. But, the star of the show has to be the gardens….and the pool…..and the views......and the seclusion.
The gardens are lovingly cared for by Manuel (our gardener). There are olive, avocado and carob trees, vines, fruits and vegetables. You can order a seasonal basket of salad or vegetables and we are offering home made jams, marmalade and limoncello via our honesty box. Our hens provide the most delicious eggs! The heated pool, with poolside furniture, is 16m long – 1mtr deep at the shallow end and 2.35 at the deep end. Framed with cactus, oleander trees, herbs and palm trees, the only sound is that of birdsong. You will feel very peaceful here. There is a built in BBQ and covered dining area with wooden table. We are now offering yoga and tai chi classes, shiatsu and therapeutical massages (thanks to Linne (https://www.linnemelinkat.com), painting and drawing classes (thanks to Anna) and in house cooking (thanks to Momme). These can either be arranged in advance or via Anna whilst you are staying at the Manoir.
The Manoir sits in the herb covered hillside between the coast and the mountains close to the market towns of Loule and Sao Bras with glorious beaches only 20 minutes away. This is the secret heart of the Algarve with villages whose simple charms and whitewashed houses take you back in time.
